Track & Field Resumes Indoor Season at Nittany Lion Challenge

Lewisburg, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison track and field teams resume the 2022-23 indoor season with the Nittany Lion Challenge. It is a chance for the Bison to test their mettle against some of the strongest competition on the east coast. It is the first meet for the squads since the Bison Open on Dec. 2-3, 2022.Â

What: Nittany Lion Challenge
Where: PSU Multi-Sport Facility-State College, Pa.Â
When: Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023
Participating teams: Men's:Â Bucknell, Duquesne, Georgetown, Maryland, Pitt, St. Francis, St. Joseph's, UMBC, and Youngstown State.
                                  Women's: Bucknell, Duquesne, Georgetown, Loyola, Maryland, Pitt, Robert Morris, St. Francis, St. Joseph's, Temple, UMBC, West Virginia, and Youngstown State.Â
The challenge commences at 11 a.m. with the Women's Shot-Put. The final scheduled result will be the Men's 4x400.Â
"After a six-week of layoff from meets in which we did not practice as a team for four of those weeks, I see this meet as more of another rust buster which will give us a gauge of where we are at as a team," said the head coach Kevin Donner. "We practiced very hard this week and the team might be a little tired, but we are still going there to compete hard and set us up for the rest of the indoor season. I am very excited to see where we are as a team."

About the Bison
- Â Last time out, the Bison hosted the non-scoring Bison Opener.Â
-  At the event, in the 60m dash, Meghan Quinn earned ECAC qualification with a time of 7.66. The time is also third all-time in the Bucknell lists.
- Karen Hull won the 60m hurdle and earned ECAC qualification with a time of 8.76. That time is third best in Bucknell history and 0.02 seconds away from the second-place mark set by Hull in last year's campaign.
- Karen Hull leaped to a mark of 1.70m/5-07.00 to win bronze and qualify for the ECAC Championships. Her jump is now tied for fourth place all-time.
- Jennifer Scott qualified for the ECAC Championships and placed second with a mark of 3.66m/12-00.00. The result equals seventh all-time in Bucknell history.
- The Nittany Lion Challenge will not be a scoring meet.
