LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Mo Tall has been selected as the Bison Athlete of the Week after his sensational free kick in the 84th minute sent the men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Saint Peter's on Sunday evening at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium.
It was a well-deserved win for the Bison, who dominated the game but found themselves trailing 1-0 into the game's final 10 minutes. Bucknell finally caught a break when Jordan Miller made a marauding run down the right wing and his centering feed was turned in by a backtracking Saint Peter's defender. That tied the game in the 82nd minute, setting the stage for Tall's heroics.
Sebastian Paz drew a foul 10 yards outside the box, and Tall stepped up a fired the free kick into the top left corner of the goal.
It was a special goal for Tall, a senior from Burkina Faso who missed all of last year due to injury and was limited to just the five spring games in 2020-21 in the COVID-shortened season. He is now a fixture in the Bison midfield and was enjoying a strong game against Saint Peter's even before scoring his first collegiate goal.
Sunday's win was Bucknell's first under new head coach Dave Brandt, and it came in the first of four straight home matches for the Bison. They will next take on Mount St. Mary's on Friday at 7 p.m.
