Sebulsky, Lajos Win Twice Each on Day 2 of West Point Invitational

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bucknell's Madi Sebulsky and Anna Lajos picked up two singles victories apiece on day two of the West Point Invitational on Saturday. Sebulsky won twice in the main draw of the E Singles flight and is now on to the semifinals, while Lajos earned two victories in the A Singles consolation draw.

The Bison began the day with five players alive in the main singles draws. Freshmen Abby Platt at B Singles and Mirra Manolov at D Singles both dropped tight three-set matches. Tyne Miller (B) and Kate Novak (E) were also beaten on Saturday, but Sebulsky still has a chance to play for a flight championship.

Sebulsky received a first-round bye in the E Singles flight, and she debuted Saturday with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lucie Tuttle of Fairfield. Sebulsky then eliminated third-seeded Alexandra Luehrman of Quinnipiac, 7-5, 6-3. Next up is a date with Meg Harding of Fairfield in the flight semifinals.

Lajos bounced back nicely after a first-round loss in the A Singles bracket. She was in control in both of her wins in the consolation draw on Saturday, beating Fordham's Valerina Deminova 8-4 and Valieriia Kornieva of Villanova 8-1. She will next play Lize-Alet Morkel of Fairfield in the consy semifinals.

The tournament wraps up on Sunday, and Bucknell will also have the tandem of Platt and Whitney King playing in the quarterfinals of the A Doubles draw.
