About the Bison
• Fresh off a 3-0 weekend, Bucknell is hosting its first home tournament since 2019. George Washington, LIU and NJIT will all be in attendance, and the Bison will see each team once.
• Bucknell's 3-0 start is its best since 2017. At the Red Flash Classic, the Bison won 3-1 over Bellarmine after dropping the first set in the season opener last Friday. They then swept Garnder-Webb in the early match on Saturday and battled to a 3-2 victory over Saint Francis Saturday night. Bucknell reached 25 points in each of the first four sets against the Red Flash but lost two of them by 27-25 scores. They then picked up a 15-13 win in the fifth to come out on top in the tournament.
• Freshman outside hitter Bri Frazilus, junior outside hitter Catherine Jamison and sophomore libero Jordan Hardy were all named to the All-Tournament Team at the Red Flash Classic. Hardy was named the tournament's MVP after totaling 64 digs (5.33 digs/set), seven service aces and 14 assists.
• Frazilus took home one of the first two Patriot League weekly awards, earning Rookie of the Week. Frazilus led the team with 42 kills (4.2 kills/set) and finished second on the roster with 32 digs (3.2 digs/set). She posted two double-doubles, including a 22-kill, 11-dig performance against Gardner-Webb. She also maintained a .514 hitting percentage that match. For her efforts, Frazilus was named the first Bison of the Week for the 2022-23 athletics season.
• Joining Frazilus with a double-double over the weekend was senior Lisa Zoch, who totaled 19 kills, 16 digs and a block assist with a .359 hitting percentage in the Saint Francis match.
• Other statistical leaders from Bucknell's opening weekend included freshman setter Luara Caro, who racked up 68 assists, and junior middle blocker Allie Lopez, who posted nine blocks (8 block assists, 1 block solo).
• Bucknell went 6-0 in home tournament matches in 2019, dropping just two sets during those two weekends.
