LEWISBURG, Pa. – Riley Piechnick, who will be entering her fifth season on the Bucknell women's soccer coaching staff, has been promoted to associate head coach by head coach Kelly Cook.
"Riley has been instrumental in building the current women's soccer championship culture," said Cook. "In her five years with the program, she has proven to be an invaluable addition with huge contributions in recruiting, coaching, and mentoring our student-athletes. Riley's commitment, work ethic, and attention to detail are outstanding. We are fortunate to have Riley in not only the Bucknell women's soccer program but the University and Lewisburg communities as well."
Piechnick, who is a 2019 graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy, helped guide Bucknell to a Patriot League championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance last fall. The fourth-seeded Bison posted consecutive shutouts over Lehigh, Navy, and Boston University to claim the Patriot League Tournament title for the fifth time, and Bucknell then put forth a strong NCAA Tournament showing in a 2-0 first-round loss at eventual national semifinalist Rutgers.
Piechnick was no stranger to Patriot League soccer when she arrived at Bucknell in February 2018. She is a 2016 graduate of Loyola University Maryland and was a three-year starting defender for the Greyhounds. Piechnick helped Loyola to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in 2012, before the Greyhounds moved into the Patriot League the following season.
Piechnick made her collegiate coaching debut with a two-year stint at Gettysburg before joining the Bucknell staff.
