WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Bucknell men's track & field team completed the second day of William & Mary's Colonial Relays meet on Saturday, placing 16th out of 40 total squads. Bucknell brought in 26 points for the weekend, while Brown was the top finishing team with 80 points.
Bucknell managed to score in the 4x200 and 4x1500 relays to add to Friday's point total, and others impressed in unseeded non-scoring events.
"Because of injuries and other health issues, our men's team is having some depth issues, however, the ones we brought competed admirably, and we had some people step up nicely. We hope to have a few of them back soon, but if we don't, we do have some guys ready to fill some spots, and many got in some great experience this weekend," said head coach Kevin Donner.
One of Bucknell's better relay teams on the day was the 4x200 squad that scored with a seventh-place finish. Kevin Boyle, Matthew Perello, Kameron Schreffler and Brandon Foust ran a 1:30.05 to add two points to the Bison effort.
Also scoring was the 4x1500 team of Bobby Lynam, Brendan O'Toole, Noah Martin and Owen Chase. The group took sixth at the meet with a 16:11.69 to score three points. Martin also scored in the steeplechase on Friday, making for a solid weekend for the junior.
Just missing out on a top eight finish and points was the sprint medley relay team, made up of Max Spaulding, Matt Federovich, Aiden Brewer and Brett Zatlin. The group came in at ninth with a time of 3:39.79.
Bucknell's 4x400 team, which included Rayven Sample, Alex Simpson, Colby Belczyk and Ethan Wolford-Tuffy came in at 11th (3:22.52).
Several Bison saw strong performances in unseeded events as well, including a second-place finish for Peter Sorensen in the 10k. The rookie beat out 18 other competitors with his 31:34.39. Jaden Rouse was fourth in the unseeded triple jump with a 44-2.75, and Jaxon White took sixth in the shot put with a 43-9.
Up next, Bucknell travels to Bethlehem, Pa. next Saturday for the Lehigh Invite.
