IRVING, Texas – Seven Bucknell football seniors became members of the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, the organization announced Wednesday morning.
Grayson Cherubino, Sterling Deary, Tarrin Earle, Michael Killiri, Dominic Lyles, Cole McCabe and Jacob Russ were the Bison recognized by the Hampshire Honor Society this year. The group included all four of Bucknell's 2021 captains: Cherubino, Earle, Lyles and Russ.Â
Earlier this off-season, Lyles earned spots on the Academic All-Patriot League and FCS Academic All-Star Teams. In addition, Cherubino, Earle, Killiri, Lyles and Russ each made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll all four of their seasons in Lewisburg.
An impressive 1,559 players from 313 schools qualified for membership in 2022, the society's 16th year. To qualify for membership in the Hampshire Honor Society, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better throughout his college career. Bucknell is one of just 10 FCS schools that had at least one honoree all 16 years, joining Brown, Columbia, Dayton, Lafayette, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Yale and Youngstown State. Across all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA and sprint football, only 25 programs have accomplished this feat.
