SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team dropped St. Bonaventure, 6-1, on Saturday at the Central PA Tennis Center.

The Bison (8-2, 0-0 PL) took the doubles point and five of six singles matches to down the Bonnies (2-10, 0-1 A10). They have now won at least eight of their first 10 matches for the second time in four seasons.

At first singles, Daniela Bellini rallied from a first set loss to defeat Alexandra Jansson, scoring a 2-6, 6-1, 10-8 victory. Her doubles partner, first year Whitney King, moved to 16-2 on the young season with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Amelia Haley.

Bellini and King also teamed for a 6-3 victory over Andrea Roque and Anastasia Gubanova at first doubles, which improved their season record to 17-2.

Laurel Utterback, Anna Lajos and Kate Novak also scored commanding victories for Bucknell, with Lajos moving to an impressive 14-1 on the season with hers.

The Bison return to action tomorrow, facing off against Penn State in Happy Valley at 5 p.m. Bucknell head coach Tammy Cecchini is a Penn State alumna. As a Nittany Lion, she played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for three seasons. The two-year team captain was also named the 1991 Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Year.
