Women's Tennis Topped by Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Navy in its Patriot League opener on Sunday at the Hooper Brigade Sports Complex.
The Mids (18-3, 2-0 PL) continued their strong 2021-22 campaign with their triumph over the Bison (9-6, 0-1 PL). For Bucknell, senior captain Daniela Bellini scored a victory over 2021 All-Patriot League First Team member Jillian Taggart in the top singles spot.
The majority of the Bison lineup played up either one or two spots at singles. First year Anna Lajos, who normally plays fifth singles, gave 2021 All-Patriot League First Team honoree Kacey Moore a battle on the third court; in the first set, she ceded a tight 7-5 decision.
Lajos and Madi Sebulsky also took Casey Accola and Emily Tannenbaum to the wire at second doubles, ultimately falling by a close 6-4 margin.
Bucknell next hosts its first dual matches at the Varsity Tennis Courts, facing Lehigh (April 2 at 2 p.m.) and Colgate (April 3 at 10 a.m.).
