About the Bison

Fresh off posting one of the best single rounds in team history, Bucknell returns to action on Monday and Tuesday at William & Mary's annual spring event at Kingsmill.
Led by a 1-under-par 71 from Tatum McKelvey and a 72 from Tara Thomas, the Bison put up a final-round 298 at the Jackrabbit Invitational at Boulder Creek GC in Nevada on March 15. Bucknell also counted a 76 from Cristina Canales and a 79 from Sun Woo Jeon. Those four, along with Sahana Paravantavida, will be back in the lineup again this week. Kelsey Yi will also travel and play as an individual.
That 298 at Boulder Creek was the third-best 18-hole mark in team history and just two shots shy of the school record.
McKelvey made five birdies in her final round, capped by a birdie-birdie finish, on the way to the eighth sub-par round in team history. Her 71 is also two shy of the Bucknell 18-hole record and tied for the ninth-best in team annals.
McKelvey now leads the Bison with a 79.0 spring scoring average. Three Bison have sub-80 averages including the fall campaign: Thomas (78.9), Canales (79.6), and McKelvey (79.8).
Bucknell made its spring 2022 debut at the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic, hosted by Lipscomb in Panama City, Fla. It was a tough start for the Bison, who were greeted by brutal weather conditions after not having much outdoor course time leading up. Bucknell shot 349-354-334 and finished in 15th place.
Thomas shot 83-84-81 at Bay Point to lead Bucknell.
Bucknell competed in five fall tournaments, with a top finish of fifth place at the Bucknell Invitational. The Bison also participated in events hosted by Penn State, Youngstown State, Navy, and Delaware.
The Bison posted season-best team scores of 315-310-311 at the Bucknell Invitational. Thomas was the team's top finisher. In just her second career start, Thomas shot 74-75-75 and placed T-7th.

The Kingsmill Intercollegiate

Bucknell will be making its 12th all-time appearance in a tournament hosted by William & Mary. Three of those came in the Tribe's fall tournament on the Plantation Course at Kingsmill.
Bucknell's last visit to the River Course came in March 2018, when the Bison finished ninth out of 15 teams after shooting 308-316-338 in deteriorating weather conditions. Lindsay Dodovich posted 75-75-82 to lead the team.
The Kingsmill Intercollegiate was next up on the schedule in the spring of 2020 when the season was halted due to the pandemic.
Delaware is the defending champion. The Blue Hens posted 912 over 54 holes to win the 2021 event by 11 shots over runner-up Richmond.
This week the Bison will see three Patriot League rivals, as Lehigh, Navy, and Richmond are also part of the 14-team field.
