Women's Golf Begins Play at Kingsmill

RESULTS
WILLIAMSBURG, Pa. – Cristina Canales fired a second-round 77 to highlight Bucknell's day at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate women's golf tournament, hosted by William & Mary at the Kingsmill Resort. Playing in chilly weather conditions, the Bison compiled team scores of 339 and 330 and sit in 13th place with one more round to go.
Canales began the day with an 84 in her opening round, then made four birdies on the way to her afternoon 77. She had two sets of back-to-back birdies, coming at holes 5, 6, 15, and 16. Kingsmill's River Course has an unusual quirk with two straight par-5s on the back nine, and Canales birdied them both.
With a 161 total, Canales leads the Bison and is tied for 41st individually. Kelsey Yi also posted 161 (80-81) but is playing as an individual and did not factor in Bucknell's team totals.
Tatum McKelvey posted a pair of 84s for the Bison, followed by Sahana Paravantavida with 86-84, Tara Thomas with 85-85, and Sun Woo Jeon with 88-86.
Delaware put up team totals of 302-306, and the Blue Hens' 608 total is good for a nine-shot lead on second-place William & Mary. Richmond is one stroke behind the Tribe in third place, and Longwood (624) and Navy (625) round out the top five.
Delaware's Oihana Etxezarreta is the only player in the field in red numbers. She shot 72-70 for a 2-under total of 142. William & Mary's Emma Lu (146) is the only chaser within seven shots of the lead.
The third and final round gets underway at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
