HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Bucknell women's tennis team swept Chaminade, 4-0, to open their trip to Hawaii on Monday at the Donald A. Andrews Diamond Head Tennis Center.
The Bison (9-3, 0-0 PL) secured the doubles point and the three singles matches they needed to defeat the Silverswords (0-5, 0-0 PacWest) in a clinch format. It was their third shutout of the season, as they previously blanked Niagara, 7-0, on Feb. 5 and Marist, 5-0, on Feb. 13.
All three of Bucknell's singles players who completed their matches won by 6-0, 6-0 margins: Laurel Utterback in the third spot, Kate Novak in the fifth spot and Caroline Marcus in the sixth spot. Madi Sebulsky narrowly lost out to Marcus in having her match count.
Notably, Marcus made her collegiate dual match debut and recorded her first career singles victory. She also teamed with Sebulsky for her first career dual match doubles win.
