LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell field hockey program continued to prove its academic excellence this week, as 22 members of the team were named to the 2021 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The Bison tied with American for the most student-athletes recognized among Patriot League teams this year.
The NFHCA National Academic Squad program honors collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year, and were nominated by their NFHCA member coach.
Bucknell was just behind national leaders Duke, Fairfield, UC Berkley and Iowa, which each placed 24 student-athletes on the list. The Bison also had three of 230 athletes appearing on the list for a fourth time – Peyton Fischer, Grace McEvoy and Erin Zielinski.
As a team, the Bison achieved a 3.4 GPA during the fall semester, and 11 members of the roster earned a 3.5 or higher. Additionally, Zielinski, Noor Kaur and Rachel Apa were all voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Team in November.
Behind Bucknell and American, Lehigh placed 17 student-athletes on the NFHCA Academic Squad, Colgate had 15, and Lafayette posted 14.
