PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- The Bucknell women's golf team made its 2022 spring debut on Monday at Lipscomb's Lady Bison Classic on the Nicklaus Course at Bay Point Golf Club. The Bison opened with a 349 team total before the second round was suspended due to darkness.

Tara Thomas and Kelsey Yi both posted 83s in the first round to lead the Bison, who are the only team from the Northeast in the field. With cold, icy weather the norm over the last several weeks in Pennsylvania, Bucknell has been limited to indoor work at the Bachman Golf Center before taking on a tough course and a tough field this week.

Host Lipscomb and Georgia State shared the first-round lead with 310 team composites. USC Upstate rallied to take a four-shot lead over Lipscomb when play was suspended in round two. Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, and Georgia State round out the top five.

Becca Earl of Wofford and Kathryn Elliott of USC Upstate are tied for the individual lead at 3-over par, with two others lurking one shot back. Earl's 1-over 73 was the best score in the field in the opening round.

The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the conclusion of round two, followed by the third and final round.
