Women's Tennis Falls to Buffalo, 5-2

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bucknell women's tennis team fell to undefeated Buffalo, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center.
The Bulls (6-0, 0-0 MAC) took five of six singles matches to top the Bison (2-1, 0-0 PL) and remain unbeaten on the young season.
For Bucknell, all three doubles teams emerged victorious, with Daniela Bellini and Whitney King moving to a sterling 11-1 on the year with a commanding 6-3 triumph over All-MAC honoree Pia Schwarz and Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou at first doubles. The Bison's other two doubles teams both earned hard-fought 7-5 decisions.
Laurel Utterback added a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 victory over Gabriella Akopyan at fourth singles. Bellini gave Schwarz a battle at first singles, taking the first set, 7-5, before dropping the next two, 6-3, 6-1.
King suffered only her second loss of the season, moving to 10-2, while Anna Lajos dropped her first, moving to 7-1.
The Bison stay on the road for matches at Seton Hall (Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m.) and Marist (Feb. 13 at 12 p.m.).
