Women's Swim & Dive Moves to Fifth at ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team moved up to fifth on the ECAC Championships' second day, which concluded on Saturday night at Lejeune Hall.
The Bison, who jumped up two spots from seventh, were bolstered by having two relay teams take fourth and by placing five individuals in the finals.
Alexis Faria was Bucknell's top individual performer, clocking the program's second-fastest time (54.79) en route to a fourth-place effort in the 100 butterfly.
The Bison took fourth in both the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays. Of those relay members, Sabrina Vumbacco, sixth in the 200 freestyle, Maddie Hartigan, 10th in the 100Â butterfly, and Alexandra Ritorto, 12th in the 100 breaststroke, also netted points in individual races.
Notably, Hartigan and Vumbacco clocked program top-10 times in events they don't normally swim, with Hartigan claiming Bucknell's fourth spot in the 100 butterfly (55.12) and Vumbacco seizing its sixth spot in the 200 freestyle (1:50.14).
The Bison currently have 177.5 points. James Madison (451), Navy (439.5) and Penn (314) are the top three teams.
The ECAC Championships conclude tomorrow, with the preliminaries beginning at 9 a.m. and the finals following at 4 p.m.
