Bucknell's King Named PL Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell's Whitney King captured her first career Patriot League Tennis Player of the Week award, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
King, a first year, was recognized for her performance during the Bison's 2-0 weekend against Seton Hall (4-2) and Marist (5-0). She went 2-0 at both second singles and first doubles to improve her overall records to 12-2 and 13-1 respectively.Â
On Feb. 12 against the Pirates, King earned a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Chloe Hamlin. She also teamed with senior captain Daniela Bellini for a 6-2 triumph over Arina Gumerova and Arabella Moen.
The next day against the Red Foxes, King dispatched Vanessa Ciano, 6-1, 6-1. She and Bellini also scored a 6-0 whitewashing of Ciano and Lea Lambert.
King is the first Bison to earn a Patriot League Player of the Week nod this season. Earlier this school year, she was named the Bison Athlete of the Week after winning the 'B' Courage singles and 'A' Honor doubles titles at Navy's Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational.
King and the Bison next play two in Latham, N.Y., facing Bryant at 2:45 p.m. on Feb. 19 and Siena at 12 p.m. on Feb. 20.
