LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Rylee Donaldson, who was named MVP of the Patriot League Women's Soccer Tournament after hitting the game-clinching penalty kick in both the semifinals and championship, has been selected as this week's Bison of the Week. Donaldson and her teammates captured their second straight conference title and fourth in the last seven years and will now face sixth-seeded Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament on Friday.Â
The Bison were seeded No. 2 in the Patriot League Tournament and received a bye into the semifinal round, where they advanced past No. 3 Boston University 4-3 in penalty kicks after the two sides played to a 0-0 draw. Donaldson hit the walk-off PK to send Bucknell into the championship match at top-seeded Army on Sunday. It was a similar story, as the Bison and Black Knights played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer. This time, Bucknell missed its first two spot kicks but hit three in a row as Army could not convert on three straight. Donaldson's shot through the hands of the Army goalkeeper once again set off the winning celebration.Â
Donaldson was the 2021 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, and this year she earned First Team All-Patriot League honors for the second year in a row. Also a two-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree, she enters the NCAA Tournament with 15 career goals.Â
Friday's NCAA First Round match at Ohio State gets started at 6 p.m. at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The game can be seen on ESPN+.Â
