Women's Swim & Dive Leads Through First Day of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swim & dive team sits in first place following the first day of the 2022 Bucknell Invitational. The Bison collected 401 points and are trailed by Fordham (318), which is currently second in the eight-team field.
Results
Bucknell's day was highlighted by the 200 freestyle relay team breaking last year's school record with a 1:32.97. Jennifer Bolden, Sophia Donati, Alexandra Ritorto and Esme Hunter placed second behind La Salle in the event. Donati and Ritorto were also part of last year's squad that clocked a 1:33.16 at the 2021 Bucknell Invitational.
Senior Sabrina Vumbacco also earned a second-place finish on the first day of the invitational, taking the runner-up spot in the 500 freestyle with a 4:50.8. She touched the wall less than one-tenth of a second behind first-place finisher Niamh Hofland of UConn.
Freshman Emma Feld also placed top-five in the 500 freestyle (4th, 4:56.60), and junior Caroline McGann rounded out the 'A' finals with a 4:58.88 to take eighth.
Competing in the 'A' finals in the 200 IM was junior Abby Doss, who posted a 2:05.95 to finish seventh. Meanwhile, Hunter (2:04.05) and Catherine Craig (2:04.50) both broke the 2:05 mark swimming in the 'B' and 'C' finals, respectively.
Donati added a fifth-place finish in the 50 freestyle, clocking a 23.74 and coming in just a spot ahead of Ritorto (6th, 23.91).
Bucknell's 400 medley relay team (Esme Hunter, Liz Dokina, Sabrina Vumbacco, Sophia Donati) took fourth with a 3:46.17 to round out a successful first day of the invitational.
The Bucknell Invitational resumes Saturday morning at Kinney Natatorium.
