LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Samuel Whittaker led the way for the Bison on Saturday morning at the Patriot League Championships, finishing 15th overall at the meet to help Bucknell to a fourth-place finish on the day.

"Although I would not call it a great race for our men by all means, I did feel that we fought very hard out there," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "We were sitting in fifth the entire race until the last 1000 meters or so. Santos passed approximately ten guys over the past mile, and we had just enough depth to finish in fourth place, which is an improvement over the past three years."
Whittaker (25:11.3) was just one-tenth of a second out of an All-League spot, and was followed closely behind by teammate Ben Santos (16th, 25:16.0), who made an impressive surge down the final stretch to help the Bison (127) overtake American (133) for fourth place.
Bobby Lynam (24th, 25:32.5) was next up for the Bison, and was joined as a scoring runner by teammates Noah Martin (38th, 25:55.6) and first-year Henry Didden (47th, 26:08.5), who had an impressive Patriot League Championship debut.
Domenic Campagna (49th, 26:10.1) and Grayson Crockett (52nd, 26:15.2) were Bucknell's first displacing runners on the day.
Christian Cadmus (61st, 26:30.0), Zachary Laird (65th, 26:33.1), Trent Dinant (69th, 26:40.3), Jeffrey Gibbs (70th, 26:43.4), and Harry Marson (76th, 26:55.6) also competed for Bucknell on Saturday.
Navy won the meet (32), and was followed by Army West Point (50) and Boston University (68) in the top three.
Garrett Gough of Army (24:27.1) took home the individual title, and was followed by Samuel Keeny and Alexander Rizzo, and Brett Brady of Navy while teammate Matthew Porter was the fifth-place finisher. The Mids placed 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 17th in earning the team title.
Bucknell will now turn its attention to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on Friday, November 11 at Penn State.
