"It was a solid effort from the men at Penn State in a very competitive field," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "We have been fighting some illness and injuries lately, but it seems we have weathered the storm and should be at full strength in two weeks. The guys at the IC4A meet ran well, and it's good to see Marson getting back into shape. They were about to give some Patriot League teams a pretty good run in spite of our top people being at Penn State. It was good to see some guys in scoring positions who normally do not get that opportunity."
Whittaker (25:49.5) has maintained his impressive form in his senior campaign for the Orange and Blue, improving tremendously from his 77th-place showing at the Penn State National Open in his first season as a Bison.
Whittaker was joined in the top 100 by teammates Bobby Lynam (54th, 26:37.6), Ben Santos (67th, 26:52.9), Domenic Campagna (79th, 27:05.9), Noah Martin (87th, 27:13.5) as scoring runners while Grayson Crockett (91st, 27:17.1) also placed in the top 100.
Trent Dinant also competed for the Bison on the day.
La Salle won the meet with 50 points, and was joined in the top five by Northeastern (75), Eastern Michigan (106), Georgia Tech (112), and Syracuse (126). Benjamin Godish of Northeastern was the individual champion, crossing the line in a time of 24:54.8.
In New York's Van Cortlandt Park, the Bison were led by Harry Marson (135th, 26:19.1). The sophomore was followed by Henry Didden (143rd, 26:22.7), Jeffrey Gibbs (161st, 26:33.3), Christian Cadmus (166th, 26:39.5), and Mason Siebenhaar (180th, 26:46.1) as Bucknell's scoring runners.
Zachary Laird (190th), Max Lagunoff (214th), Thomas White (218th), Grant Kern (222nd), Peter Clifford (242nd), Quinn McCutcheon (269th), and Daniel Hilmer (274th) also competed for the Bison on the day.
Princeton won the meet in commanding fashion (33) by placing all five of its scoring runners in the top 14, including individual champion Anthony Monte (23:52.8). The Tigers were joined by Cornell (60), Stony Brook (87), UMass Lowell (124), and Yale (204) in the top five.
Bucknell will now turn its attention to its final tune up at home on October 21 at 5:15 p.m. before the Patriot League Championships on Saturday, October 29.
