Bucknell at a Glance
• The Bison are currently 4-2 (0-0 EIWA) on the season. They most recently placed 13th at the MatMen Open, which was held Dec. 29-30.Â
• Last season, Bucknell placed a wrestler on the EIWA podium at all 10 weight classes and qualified two for the NCAA Championships.
• The Bison returned two-time All-American Zach Hartman, who is also the defending EIWA champion at 165 pounds.

• Bucknell posted a 10-6 (9-3 EIWA) record in 2019-20 dual action. The Bison reached the double digits in dual victories for the first time since 2016-17; their total of EIWA victories also matched their 2016-17 figure.
• Bucknell's eight returning EIWA placewinners are Hartman (2021, 2020 & 2019), Jaden Fisher (2021 & 2020), Vincent Andreano (2021), Dorian Crosby (2021), Mason McCready (2021), Miller (2021), Kurt Phipps (2021) and Brandon Seidman (2021).

• Head coach Dan Wirnsberger is in his 17th season at the helm of the Bucknell wrestling program. He has scored 134 career victories, good for second in school history; he was also tabbed as the 2015 EIWA Coach of the Year after the Bison placed third at the EIWA Championships and qualified four wrestlers for the NCAA Championships.
• Wirnsberger and Bob Ferraro, who led Bucknell to a 169-175-6 record from 1974 to 1997, are the program's only head coaches to reach the 100-win plateau.

A Look Back at the MatMen Open
• Zach Hartman (165) and Kurt Phipps (133) earned a spot on the podium at the MatMen Open, which was held Dec. 29-30.
• Hartman placed fifth while Phipps claimed eighth. In addition, Hartman, Phipps and Nick Delp (157) each scored at least one win over a nationally ranked opponent during the tournament.
• Phipps's 9-4 decision over No. 13 Michael Colaiocco (Penn) was his first career victory over a top-20 grappler while Delp's 9-4 decision over No. 29 Robert Kanniard (Rutgers) was his first career win over a nationally ranked foe.
• Hartman twice defeated No. 29 Lucas Revano (Penn), with their meetings coming in the quarterfinals and fifth-place bout. The senior now owns 13 career victories over nationally ranked wrestlers.
• Six of the nine Bison who made the trip to Illinois advanced to the MatMen Open's second day. All four of the Bison who fell in the second consolation round of eight were edged by two points or fewer.
• Six different Bison garnered bonus points, with Noah Levett (141), Kolby DePron (149) and Mason McCready (197) pinning one opponent.
• As a team, Bucknell placed 13th with 35 points.
LIU at a Glance
• LIU is currently 0-4 (0-1 EIWA) but most recently won Dec. 22's Wilkes Open.
• During the abbreviated 2020-21 campaign, the Sharks posted a 1-4 (1-4 EIWA) record in dual competition. They also finished 10th at the 2021 EIWA Championships.
• LIU is the EIWA's newest member. The program was formed when Division I LIU Brooklyn and Division II LIU Post merged ahead of the 2019-20 campaign. The wrestling team, which competes on LIU Post's campus, was elevated to the Division I level with the merger.
• In their only dual meeting, which took place on Dec. 20, 2019, the Bison cruised to a 39-7 victory at the Sharks' Pratt Recreation Center. Bucknell used two pins, a technical fall and a major decision to down LIU.
• The Sharks also attended the Bison's 2020-21-opening round-robin tournament on Jan. 3, 2021. At that event, which also featured VMI, Darren Miller (3-0 at 133), Vincent Andreano (3-0 at 174), Brandon Seidman (2-0 at 125), David Campbell (2-0 at 141), then No. 11 Zach Hartman (2-0 at 165) and Dorian Crosby (2-0 at 285) all went undefeated. Andreano was later named the Bison Athlete of the Week on the strength of his performance.

• Hofstra is currently 2-6 (1-1 EIWA), most recently dropping three duals to ranked opponents at the Journeymen Collegiate Wrestling Duals on Dec. 20-21.
• During the abbreviated 2020-21 campaign, the Pride went 2-1 (1-1 EIWA) in dual competition. They also placed fourth at the 2021 EIWA Championships.
• Zachary Knighton-Ward (19th at 285) and Charles Small (27th at 184) appeared in this week's Intermat rankings.
• Bucknell leads the all-time series with Hofstra, 15-9. The Bison and Pride have only met three times in the 2000s, with their most recent dual coming on Jan. 26, 2019 in Hempstead, N.Y.
• During that dual, back-to-back pins by Zach Hartman (157) and D.J. Hollingshead (165), and a clutch major decision by Drew Phipps (197), propelled Bucknell to a 22-18 comeback victory.
