LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's track & field grabbed a win in the team's first scored meet of the season, scoring 140 points at the Gulden Invite Saturday. Mount St. Mary's took second (121), and Shippensburg came in third (114).
Final Results
"I thought our men showed big improvement compared to last week, especially on the track. It was a close meet with Shippensburg and Mount St. Mary's, but our depth really showed in the two relays as we ended the meet with 4x800 and 4x400 wins. Our men showed a lot of excitement and enthusiasm, and I believe this will jump-start us to some real nice success over the next few weeks," said head coach Kevin Donner.
Ethan Wolford-Tuffy won the 400 (49.93) with an IC4A qualifying time, and he was also part of Bucknell's winning 4x400 team (Sample, Coughlin, Kennedy, Wolford-Tuffy, 3:23.05).
Bucknell's 4x800 relay team grabbed first place as well, running an 8:14.57 behind the efforts of Brendan O'Toole, Alex Simpson, Seth Hoffritz and Colby Belczyk.
Belczyk was also a winner in the 1000 (2:30.12). Both Belczyk and third-place finisher Thomas Matsumura (2:30.29) ran IC4A qualifying times in the race. Another event winner was junior Samuel Whittaker, who took first in the 3000 (8:38.36).
Along with his placement in 4x800, O'Toole grabbed second in the mile (4:22.23), while Noah Martin (2nd, 15:13.32) and Matthew Cervon (3rd, 15:16.16) claimed two of the top three spots in the 5000.
