About the Bison
- Bucknell enters its fourth weekend of indoor competition, having just completed its first scored meet of the season. Bucknell won the Gulden Invite last weekend, totaling 140 points.
- The Bison earned five event wins at the Gulden Invite, while several others placed among the top three. Especially strong were Bucknell's relay teams, taking first place in both the 4x400 (3:23.05) and the 4x800 (8:14.57).
- Ethan Wolford-Tuffy, who has several top finishes already this season and was part of Bucknell's winning 4x400 team, also earned a victory in the 400. Wolford-Tuffy ran a 49.93, grabbing an IC4A qualifying time.
- Also sealing IC4A qualifiers were rookie Colby Belczyk and senior Thomas Matsumura in the 1000. Belczyk won the event with a 2:30.12, while Matsumura placed third with a 2:30.29.
- Junior Samuel Whittaker placed first in the 3000 as well, running the event in 8:38.36.
- Bucknell was strong in other distance events throughout the day. Senior Brendan O'Toole took second in the mile (4:22.23), while junior Noah Martin (15:13.32) and senior Matt Cervon (15:16.16) placed second and third, respectively, in the 5000.
- Bucknell also saw second and third place finishes in shot put, behind the efforts of junior Anthony Zamarra (2nd, 50-01.25) and rookie Braden Stryker (3rd, 50-00.75)
"This is always a fun and valuable weekend for our team. The rust busting is over, and now we have different missions for different people, depending on the individual. Some of our athletes are doing their primary events and trying to prove themselves, and others are doing secondary events or even multiple events to prepare themselves for the attrition of a league championship meet where there are trials and finals over two days. Some people are even competing Friday at home and Saturday at Penn State. It's close to being mid-year for indoors, and we need to identify who will be ready in a month."
