Swim & Dive Hosts Army West Point for Senior Day

Bison women win eighth dual meet of season
LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell swimming & diving teams hosted Army West Point for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.
The Bison women moved to an impressive 8-1 (6-1 PL) on the season with their 183-117 victory. The men's team, now 6-3 (5-2 PL), suffered a 206-92 setback to the visiting Black Knights, who have finished as the runners-up at each of the past eight Patriot League Championships.
Dating back to the 2018-19 campaign, the Bucknell women have posted a remarkable 29-3 (22-3 PL) record in dual meets; all three of the Bison's losses came to reigning Patriot League champion Navy.
Maddie Hartigan continued her winning week, taking first in three races for the second-straight meet. This time, she outraced the field in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle; she also anchored the second-place 200 freestyle relay team.
For the second meet in a row, Abby Doss (100 & 200 breaststroke) and Esme Hunter (100 & 200 backstroke) each outraced the field in both races in her respective discipline; in addition, Doss touched the wall first in the 400 IM against Army West Point.
Sabrina Vumbacco rounded out the women's team's Saturday winners, claiming first in the 1,000 freestyle for the second-straight day. She added a pair of runner-up efforts in the 100 butterfly and 400 IM.
Gina Hinthorn went second in the 1-meter dive behind Bucknell's eighth-best score (255.98). Kayla Lichtner (50, 100 & 200 freestyle) and Ryle Giles (500 & 1,000 freestyle) swam to multiple second-place performances.
The Bison women went 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyle and 400 IM.
On the men's side, Liam Pitt won the 100 butterfly and teamed with Chris Fabian, Ryaan Hatoum and Leo Kuyl to clock Bucknell's ninth-fastest time in the 200 medley relay (1:30.73).
John Gehrig logged the Bison's eighth-fastest time in the 100 butterfly (49.46) en route to a runner-up showing. Fabian (100 backstroke) and Kuyl (50 freestyle) added second-place individual finishes to their strong showing as members of the 200 medley relay team.
In addition, Nick Pirone logged Bucknell's 10th-best score in the 3-meter dive (250.20).
The Bison next face off against rival Lehigh on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa.
