Bucknell's Fisher Named PL Rookie of Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell's Justin Fisher was named the Patriot League Football GEICO Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
In addition, Fisher received Honorable Mention National Freshman Player of the Week accolades from STATS. He was recognized after making nine tackles during the Bison's season opener at Sacred Heart. The freshman defensive lineman tied linebacker Blake Leake for the game high in that statistical category.
Fisher also logged a quarterback hurry. He was one of eight Bucknell freshmen to see action on the defensive side of the ball against the Pioneers.
During the spring of 2021, fellow defensive lineman Mike Bright Jr. was honored as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his role in the Bison's 6-0 shutout of rival Lehigh. He was a key piece of a defense that limited the Mountain Hawks to only 190 yards of total offense, 23 of which came on the ground.
Fisher and the Bison return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 by facing off against Villanova at 6 p.m.
