Deschler Opens Bucknell Women's Cross Country Season with Win at Bison Open

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Senior Emily Deschler continued her strong form in cross country in opening her senior season with a victory at the Bison Open on Saturday morning against Lafayette and Juniata. The Bison won the three-team meet with 23 points, followed by the Leopards (38) and Juniata (85).
"Today shows how important depth can be," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. We had three former all-league cross country runners from the past two years not race, but our three through seven runners were all freshmen or sophomores, and they were able to put us in a position to beat a very good Lafayette team. Emily ran a very good race and had her usual kick to win it, and I thought Forker ran great. The three freshmen were our big story, and it's a great sign for the future. When we get our veterans back in the races and more fit, I believe we will be a very good team."  Â
