LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey's Lily Neilson received multiple honors on Monday for a second consecutive week after tallying four more points over the weekend. Neilson was named both Patriot League Rookie of the Week and Bison of the Week following a 1-1 weekend of the team.
On Saturday, Neilson scored the game-winning goal 69 seconds into the overtime period at Boston U., giving the Bison a 2-1 victory and their third win in a row over the Terriers, dating back to 2019. She found the back of the cage again on Sunday, scoring in the third quarter against a strong 7-1 Harvard team that has allowed just three regulation goals this season.
Neilson currently leads the team and the Patriot League in both goals (9) and points (19). She earned PL Rookie and Offensive Player honors last weekend following a five-goal performance in a win over Holy Cross that broke the school record and tied a 31-year-old Patriot League record. She's one of only two players in all of Division I to score five in a single contest this season. Neilson also was named Rookie of the Week back on Sept. 6.
Neilson's nine goals have come on just 22 total shots, giving her a .409 shot percentage. She's scored in five different games this season.
Junior forward Maddie Rehak was named an honorable mention for Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Rehak broke the scoring open with a goal in the win over the Terriers, and then she added the assist on Neilson's goal at Harvard. She's tied for second on the Bison roster in points with two goals and five assists this season.
The field hockey team is tied for first place in the Patriot League standings with a 6-3 overall record and a 2-0 mark in league play, winning five of their last six games. Bucknell will face American in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Oct. 2.
