RESULTS
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Nick Mueller and Michael Owen wrapped up 3-0 weekends in singles, and Owen and Tim Zelikovsy dropped only four games on the way to three straight doubles wins, as the Bucknell men's tennis team finished up play at the Bloomsburg Invitational on Sunday.
The tournament was a UTR match play event, rather than a bracketed format, and the four Bison who attended the tournament combined to go 10-2 in singles over two days.
Mueller, playing in the Gold Draw, was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Carlos Martinez-Lucas of Millersville on Sunday. Including two wins a day earlier, Mueller is now a perfect 6-0 in singles this season.
In the Silver Draw, Nicolas Grünig beat Santiago Ramos of Millersville, 6-4, 7-5 to go 2-1 on the weekend.
Owen and Zelikovsky both played in the Bronze Draw. Owen won his third straight match by the same score – 6-2, 6-2 – this time against Hristo Plasheski of Mercyhurst. Zelikovsky capped a 2-1 tournament with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Mercyhurst's Kiran Richards.
In doubles, Owen and Zelikovsky won twice on Sunday while conceding only one game. They downed Dylan Tull and Zach Pernia of Millersville, 6-1, then whitewashed Ting-Yu Yen and Jasper De Koning of Millersville, 6-0.
The Bison will be back in action next week at the Binghamton Invitational. The event runs Friday through Sunday in Vestal, N.Y.
