Matt Thorsheim Earns Spot on CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Matt Thorsheim of the Bucknell University men's soccer team has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-American Team, the organization announced on Monday. Â
Thorsheim earned a spot on the Third Team, becoming Bucknell's first honoree since Jesse Klug earned back-to-back Third Team selections in 2014 and 2015. Â Thorsheim also becomes Bucknell's eighth selection to the Academic All-American Team since 1994. Â
An accounting and financial management major, Thorsheim graduated from Bucknell with a 3.70 cumulative GPA while also excelling on the field, helping lead Bucknell to a Patriot League Semifinal berth in 2019 after a two-goal game against Navy in the Quarterfinals. Â
The native of Manalapan, N.J. enjoyed an excellent career for the Orange and Blue, earning back-to-back Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, and also earning First Team All-Patriot League accolades in the past two seasons. Â
In 2021, Thorsheim provided two assists, contributing to two of Bucknell's four goals scored this season. Â Thorsheim is just the third Bison in school history to earn Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors twice, and has supplied 14 goals and 12 assists overall in his career. Â
