LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell volleyball head coach Tyler Hagstrom announced on Wednesday the addition of Erin Kretzschmar to the staff as an assistant coach.
"I'm thrilled to have Erin join my staff. She's really impressed me throughout this process with the way she views coaching and how she can make a difference with student-athletes on and off the court. She has great energy and will make an immediate impact with the program," said Hagstrom.
Kretzschmar has spent time coaching volleyball collegiately and playing professionally since graduating from Limestone College. Most recently, she worked as an education coach at the Primrose School of Mount Pleasant in her home town of Mount Pleasant, S.C.
In 2018 and 2019, Kretzschmar was a starting middle blocker for the KK Tel Aviv professional team in Israel and helped lead the team to a fourth-place finish in the Israeli Premier League as well as an Israeli Cup semifinal finish.
Prior to her pro stint overseas, Kretzschmar served as a graduate assistant coach for the Converse College volleyball program while she earned a master's degree in teaching. In the role, Kretzchmar assisted with recruiting, travel planning, individual and team practices, and scouting. She also served as a student assistant coach for the Limestone men's volleyball team following her final collegiate season.
Kretzschmar put together a standout playing career for the Saints, starting all four seasons and earning captaincy in the spring of her first year. She was twice named All-Conference Carolinas Second Team and earned spots on the All-Tournament Team in both 2014 and 2015. Kretzschmar was a three-time Limestone College Offensive Player of the Year selection as well.
Kretzschmar earned her bachelor's degree in liberal studies from Limestone in 2016. She joins a Bucknell team that finished 1-3 during Hagstrom's truncated first season in spring 2021.
