LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Abby Kapp has been named to the First Team Academic All-District 2 Team for women's basketball, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization on Thursday. The All-District recognition honors players who excel both on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve who has participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions and is at least a sophomore both academically and athletically.
Kapp is the only Patriot League player to receive the honor this year, and she's now a candidate for national Academic All-American recognition, which will be voted on and announced later in May.
Kapp put together an outstanding career both on the hardwood and in the classroom. She was recognized as the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year back in March and has twice been voted to the Academic All-League team.
The senior captain is also a two-time member of the All-Patriot League Team and was voted to the All-Rookie Team in 2018. Kapp finished her career with 902 points and as Bucknell's all-time leader in career 3-pointers made (196). In 2020-21, Kapp averaged 11.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. She appeared in 106 games, including 78 starts over her four years.
Kapp, an economics major with a 3.87 cumulative grade-point average, has been a strong voice in the Bucknell community and beyond as a founding member of the Patriot League Social Justice Coalition and as a member of the Bucknell Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council.
