BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bryant Boswell and Tommy Sopko represented the Bucknell men's lacrosse team on the 2021 Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
The senior captains were among 12 student-athletes recognized for their performance on the field and in the classroom. Each became a first-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree.
Earlier this week, Boswell made his second career All-Patriot League Second Team. The defenseman started all seven of his appearances, finishing the abbreviated campaign with 16 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Through the regular season, he ranked third in the Patriot League and tied for 10th in the nation in caused turnovers per game (2.00).
Boswell, a physics major, concluded his time in Lewisburg with 103 ground balls and 45 caused turnovers in 42 career games, 31 of which were starts. He reached the double digits in caused turnovers in each of his final three seasons and collected at least 35 ground balls in both of his full campaigns.
Sopko, an attackman, led the Bison in goals (23) and points (30) in 2021; he also finished second in assists (7) and fourth in ground balls (18). Through the regular season, he was slotted third in the Patriot League and tied for 18th in the nation in goals per game (2.88).
Sopko started all 44 of Bucknell's games during his time in Lewisburg, registering 118 points (91g-27a), 64 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. He netted at least 20 goals in three of four seasons; despite his final two campaigns being abbreviated due to the COVID-19 public health threat, he finished just three goals shy of cracking the Bison's career top-10 list.
Sopko, an accounting & financial management major, completed internships with Dakota Funds and DT Investment Partners. He also served as an analyst for the Bucknell Student Managed Investment Fund.
