LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey senior Kaelyn Long was one of 38 student-athletes to be named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Team, as was announced by the organization on Wednesday. The 2020 NFHCA Senior Team was put together in lieu of the NFHCA Senior Game, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Long and the other 37 members of the Senior Team were nominated by their NFHCA member coaches and were chosen based on career accomplishments.
Long is a two-time All-Patriot League selection and served as a team captain this year. She posted six points in nine games played this season with two goals and two assists, and she was named the Patriot League Tournament MVP after scoring the game-winner against Boston U. in the title match.
In 2019, Long started every contest and posted 12 points on four goals scored and four assists. She added that to three goals she scored as a sophomore and an assist she posted during her rookie campaign.
Long has been recognized off the field as well, as a two-time member of the Academic All-Patriot League Team and a three-time NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad member.
Long was joined on the NFHCA Senior Team by fellow Patriot League players Kathryn Scheerer (Boston U.) and Anna Steps (Lafayette).
