Men's Swim & Dive Wraps Up First Day of PL Challenge Meet

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming & diving team logged seven program top-10 times on the first day of its Patriot League Challenge Meet against American and Loyola (Md.).
Through Saturday night, the Bison stand second with 400 points. Loyola is in first with 640 points while American is third with 231 points.
Will Cadwallader (1-meter dive) and John Gehrig (500 freestyle) were Bucknell's individual champions. Chris Fabian went second in the 100 backstroke, logging the third-fastest time (49.05) in school history. Noah Basista was the runner-up in the 200 breaststroke; he touched the wall in 2:00.77, good for fourth in the Bison annals.
Three relay teams finished second: the 200 freestyle relay team of Leo Kuyl, Christian Stef, Sam Sweeney and Matt Mills, the 400 medley relay team of Basista, Fabian, Nick Haddad and Nate Romanowski and the 800 freestyle relay team of Gehrig, Stef, Sean Quinn and Carter Weiland.
The 800 freestyle relay team's time of 6:38.25 was good for seventh in school history while the 200 freestyle relay team tied for eighth in the Bucknell record book with a 1:22.12 showing.
Jack Rose, Haddad, Fabian and Basista swam the 200 freestyle relay as an exhibition. In the process, they clocked the Bison's third-fastest time (1:21.82).
Haddad, who went third in the 100 backstroke, posted Bucknell's fifth-fastest time (49.33). Fabian added a third-place effort in the 100 freestyle; his preliminary time of 44.92 slotted him fourth in school history.
The Bison wrap up their Patriot League Challenge Meet tomorrow at Kinney Natatorium. The preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., with the finals following at 6 p.m. Both sessions will be streamed on ESPN+.
