No. 20 Women's Water Polo Concludes Regular Season with 2-0 Day

EMMITSBURG, Md. – The No. 20 Bucknell University women's water polo team finished its regular season on a three-game winning streak after defeating Mount St. Mary's 20-3 and Saint Francis (Pa.) 14-9 on Saturday afternoon.
Game One: Bucknell 20, Mount St. Mary's 3
Bucknell scored 13 of the game's opening 14 goals in taking a 20-3 win over Mount St. Mary's in the first game of the day. The Bison scored the first six goals of the game by four different scorers, as Ally Furano, Kali Hyham, Olivia Dey, and Isabelle Monaghan each found the back of the cage. The goal for Dey was the first of her career.
After a Mount St. Mary's goal, the Bison scored seven straight to end the half to take a commanding 13-1 lead to end the half before cruising to a 20-3 win.
Seven different Bison scored in the victory, and the three goals allowed by the Bison were the lowest by the team since a 13-3 win over the University of Toronto on March 3, 2019.
Monaghan and A. Furano led the way with five goals each, while Hyham added four goals. Paige Furano added three goals, four assists, and five steals in the victory. Dey added a career-best five assists in the win, while Kirstin Hayduchok added two assists and three steals.

Game Two: Bucknell 14, Saint Francis 9
In a rematch of Bucknell's senior day game one week prior, it was the Furano sisters who combined to do most of the damage as Bucknell defeated the Red Flash for the second time in six games. A. Furano scored seven goals in the victory, which is one off her school-record eight she set in the opening game in 2020. P. Furano scored three goals and added a career-best six assists for nine points. The six assists for P. Furano are the second-highest single game total in program history, and her nine points are one off the school record.
However, Bucknell found itself trailing early in this one, as the Red Flash took a 3-2 lead after one quarter. A. Furano gave the Bison the lead with the opening goal, before Bella Moynihan added Bucknell's second. The Red Flash responded to each Bucknell goal with a goal of their own, before taking the lead on a penalty shot from Addison Williams.
Bucknell found its offensive rhythm in the second quarter, scoring six goals to take the lead for good.
Bucknell managed to tie the game three times in the second quarter, with Hyham scoring the latest of those goals to tie the game at five. The goal by Hyham was one of four straight for the Bison, Hyham and A. Furano scored two each to give Bucknell an 8-5 lead.
The Red Flash wouldn't go away quietly however, pulling within one, 8-7, in the third. However, two big goals from A. Furano restored a three-goal advantage in a defensive third quarter, 10-7. The Bison would maintain a two-goal cushion the rest of the way before pulling away later on in the fourth for the five-goal victory.
The Furano sisters accounted for 10 of Bucknell's 14 goals, while Hyham, Monaghan, and Moynihan each scored. P. Furano also added a career-best eight steals in the win.
Bucknell will now look ahead to the CWPA Championships held at the University of Michigan on April 24.
