Patrick O'Hara Named to Academic All-League Squad for Second Time
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Senior Matt Thorsheim, just three days after earning his second straight appearance on the All-Patriot League First Team, has been named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row. Joining Thorsheim with back-to-back plaudits from the Patriot League was Patrick O'Hara, who was named to the Academic All-League Team for the second year in a row.
Thorsheim, who earned the award last season after a stellar junior year, contributed to half of Bucknell's goals in his senior season with two assists, and finished his Bucknell career with 14 goals and 12 assists in total. The senior from Manalapan, N.J. becomes just the third Bison in program history to earn the award twice, joining Greg Beatty (93,94) and Jonathan Hemmert (03, 04). Thorsheim, who has now been named to the Academic All-League team for the third straight year, becomes just the second Bison to earn a spot on the Academic All-League team three times since the award was created in 2010, joining former teammate and 2020 graduate Nick King.
O'Hara, who was Bucknell's First CoSIDA Academic All-District selection since 2015 last fall, makes his second straight appearance on the Academic All-League squad. The two linked up on Bucknell's opening goal against American in a 2-1 win after a corner kick by Thorsheim was flicked into the back post by O'Hara. A biology major with a 3.96 cumulative GPA, O'Hara has scored six goals and added two assists in his career in the Orange and Blue.
Bucknell has now had at least two selections to the Academic All-League team in all but one year since 2010.
