LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's tennis senior Marwan Abaza was named the Patriot League Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday after a solid outing against Loyola (Md.) over the weekend.
After the Bison struggled against Navy on Saturday, Abaza rallied his teammates and picked up wins at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to help Bucknell defeat the Greyhounds 6-1 on Sunday. Abaza improved to 2-2 at No. 1 singles and 3-2 in doubles play with the victories.
The senior captured a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win over Loyola's Benny Glezer before teaming up with Cooper Bradshaw to win 6-1 over Loyola's Edik Pribitkin and Charlie Shanker in doubles. With the match victory the Bison improved to 2-1 in Patriot League play.
Abaza is the second Bucknell men's tennis player to earn the award this season after Michael Owen was named the Player of the Week back on March 10. It's also the third time Abaza has received the honor in his career.
Bucknell plays its last two regular season matches this weekend against Lafayette and Lehigh.
