CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Senior midfielder Matt Thorsheim has been named to the All-Patriot League First Team for the second straight year, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Thorsheim becomes the first player to earn a spot on the All-Patriot League team in all four seasons in the Orange and Blue since his brother Chris Thorsheim earned four All-League nods from 2012-15. Thorsheim is also the first honoree for the Bison to earn two First Team selections since C. Thorsheim accomplished the feat three straight years from 2013-15.
Additionally, Thorsheim is only the fourth player to receive multiple First Team selections since 2010, along with C. Thorsheim, Ross Liberati, and Mayowa Alli.
Thorsheim played a part in two of Bucknell's four goals this season. The native of Manalapan, N.J. assisted Patrick O'Hara's opening goal against American on a corner kick, and also assisted fellow captain Trevor Wiggins' goal against Lehigh.
Thorsheim has accounted for 14 goals and 12 assists during his time at Bucknell, starting 56 of a possible 58 games for the Orange and Blue during that timespan. In 2019, Thorsheim was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year while also earning First Team accolades. 2019 proved to be a career year for the midfielder, who scored seven goals and added five assists for 19 points, the most by a Bison player since Sebastiaan Blickman managed 26 in 2016 (11g, 4a).
Bucknell has now had an All-Patriot League selection in each of the past 19 seasons.
