LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior guard Abby Kapp has been voted the 2020-21 Patriot League Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, in addition to being named to the five-player Academic All-League Team, as announced by the league office on Friday.
The academic honor adds to a long list of Patriot League accolades Kapp has collected during her career, including a Third Team All-Patriot League nod earlier this week. Kapp becomes just the second player in program history to be named Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is the first to do so since Lori Houck in 2000.
Kapp maintains a 3.87 cumulative grade-point average as an economics major with a public policy minor. The Barto, Pa. native is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and a two-time member of the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Kapp has served in leadership rolls on and off the court as a team captain and as a member of both the Bucknell Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council and the Patriot League Social Justice Coalition.
On the court, Kapp is a two-time All-Patriot League Team selection and was a member of the 2018 All-Rookie Team. Kapp has started 47 consecutive games for the Bison and is averaging 12.1 points per game this season. The senior currently ranks 16th in the Patriot League record books for career 3-pointers.
As a team, Bucknell achieved a 3.66 GPA in the fall semester. The Bison return to the court on Sunday for a Patriot League Quarterfinal game against Loyola (Md.).
