LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's track & field team began its 2021-22 indoor season on Friday at the Bison Opener. Sophomore Miguel Negrete currently sits third in the heptathlon with 2,614 points through the first few events.
"Miguel had a great first day and is sitting third with three events tomorrow. He is in a great position to make our all-time top 10 list," said head coach Kevin Donner.
Negrete posted a third-place finish in the 60m dash (7.34), third in long jump (21-06.75), second in shot put (36-09.75), and fourth in high jump (5-08.50).
Senior teammate Aiden Brewer is in sixth in the heptathlon with 2,169 points.
"Brewer had a solid day one, but two of his events tomorrow he is very good at – pole vault and the 1,000 – and he should make up a lot of ground and move up considerably in the standings," said Donner.
The men's heptathlon continues Saturday morning, beginning with the 60m hurdles at 8:30 a.m.
