LEWISBURG, Pa. – Three members of the Bucknell field hockey team earned spots on the 2021 Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Erin Zielinski, Noor Kaur and Rachel Apa all made their first appearance on the Academic All-League list, and Bucknell was one of three teams with a trio of honorees. The Bison have had multiple honorees every year since the creation of the Academic All-League Team in 2010.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Patriot League awards, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Nominees must have completed at least one academic year at their institution.
Zielinski, a chemical engineering major from Downingtown, Pa., posted a 3.73 cumulative GPA and has been a member of the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. She's been active in the engineering department as a research assist and as a member of the Society of Women's Engineering. Aside from her leadership on the field as a team captain, Zielinski serves as co-vice president for Bucknell's Student-Athlete Advisory committee and is a member of the Bucknell Athletics Leadership Institute.
The senior is a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection and was chosen to the 2020-21 Patriot League All-Tournament Team last season. Zielinski played nearly every minute during the regular season this fall and has seven assists and one goal. She's been a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Kaur possesses a 3.92 GPA as a double-major in psychology and literary studies. She's been highly involved on campus and in the community, serving on the executive board for the Bucknell Athletics community service and engagement program Bison Cares. Kaur is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, the Bison Athletes of Color organization, and a member of the Bucknell South Asian Student Association.
Kaur is tied for second on the roster with seven assists this fall and has one goal as well. She broke Bucknell's single-game assists record with five in a win over Lehigh back in October. She's landed on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll each year.
Apa, a sophomore from Lewisberry, Pa., owns a team-best 3.95 cumulative GPA as a markets, innovation & design major. She landed on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll last season as a rookie. Apa has started 16 of 17 games this fall and ranks fourth on the team in points (10) with four goals and two assists.
