Bucknell Men's Water Polo Defeats Mount St. Mary's on Saturday Afternoon

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell University men's water polo team defeated Mount St. Mary's, 17-11, on Saturday afternoon in the consolation bracket of the MAWPC Tournament.
Bucknell evens its record at 12-12 with the win, and will now face Gannon in the fifth-place game on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in an effort to secure its 11th straight winning season.
Bucknell was led by a four-goal effort by Hasan Mogultay, and he was on hand to score two of Bucknell's four goals as the Bison started the game on a 4-1 run. Josh Yardley and Ethan Jones also contributed goals as Bucknell surged to an early lead in its second straight game. The Mount kept things close in the second, pulling within 6-3, but goals from Matt Ryckman and J. Yardley in the final 3:36 of the half ensured a comfortable five-goal lead for the Bison, 8-3. However, the Mount found one more response with one second in the half to make the score 8-4 at the break.
Bucknell used a strong third quarter to create separation, outscoring MSM 6-1 in the period to pull away. Jones found the back of the cage twice in the first minute of the quarter, while Mogultay, Yardley, and Walker Butler also scored in the frame. Two more goals from the Bison in the fourth sealed the win as Bucknell led by as many as ten en route to a 17-11 win.
Mogultay led the way with four goals, while J. Yardley and Jones each scored three. Shay Gillearn added two goals, while Colby Paine, Doruk Ozar, and Jack Lewis each scored once. Adrien Touzot and Jack Otto split time in the cage, making nine and three saves, respectively.
Bucknell returns to action for the final time in 2021 with a 10:30 a.m. matchup against Gannon.
