Bucknell Men's Water Polo Ends Season with 9-7 Win over Gannon

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell University men's water polo team ended its season on a winning note by securing its eleventh straight winning season with a 9-7 win over Gannon in the MAWPC consolation round on Sunday morning.

The two teams kept things close after one, with Bucknell taking a 3-2 lead. Jack Lewis opened the scoring for the Bison, while Ethan Jones and Shay Gillearn each scored once in the period. Bucknell extended that lead to 4-2 after two quarters, when Jones buried a five-meter attempt, his second of the half, to give Bucknell a two-goal advantage.

The Bison continued that run into the second half, scoring two more unanswered goals to take a 6-2 lead with 4:25 to go in the third courtesy of Doruk Ozar and Hasan Mogultay. The Golden Knights kept things close however, pulling within one at the 2:59 mark of the fourth, 8-7. However, Gillearn, who scored a season-best three goals in the win, found Bucknell's insurance goal just 18 seconds later as the Bison took a 9-7 win to finish the season at 13-12.

Gillearn led all scorers with his three-goal haul, while Mogultay, Ozar, Jack Lewis and Vlasceanu each added a goal. Adrien Touzot made ten saves in the victory.
