School Record Falls in the 200 Freestyle Relay

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's swimming & diving team stands second through the Bucknell Invitational's first day, which concluded on Friday night at Kinney Natatorium.

The Bison's top performance came in the 200 freestyle relay, which saw Chris Fabian, Leo Kuyl, Sam Sweeney and Liam Pitt team to break the school record with a time of 1:20.63.

Kuyl, Fabian and Pitt were also among the eight Bison who qualified for the 'A' finals in individual events. Kuyl (50 freestyle) and Chris Kopac (500 freestyle) swam to runner-up finishes, with Kuyl also clocking Bucknell's fourth-fastest time (20.28) in the process.

John Gehrig, who went third in the 200 IM, logged the Bison's fourth-fastest time (1:49.01). He also placed eighth in the 500 freestyle.

Pitt, who claimed a fourth-place showing in the 50 freestyle, swam Bucknell's eighth-fastest time (20.57) during the preliminaries.

The Bison captured second- and sixth-place showings in the 200 freestyle relay and a fifth-place performance in the 400 medley relay.

With 378 points, the Bison are slotted behind only Towson (454) in the seven-team field. The Bucknell Invitational continues tomorrow, with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m.
