LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey senior Erin Zielinski was one of 38 student-athletes named to the 2021 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Team, as announced by the organization on Monday. The 2021 NFHCA Senior Team was put together in lieu of the NFHCA Senior Game, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
All ten Division I conferences and five NCAA regions that sponsor field hockey are represented on the list of 2021 honorees. The selected student-athletes were nominated by their NFHCA member coach and were chosen based on their career accomplishments.
Zielinski put together an outstanding senior season, earning First Team All-Patriot League honors after starting every game and serving as a team captain. The defender from Downingtown, Pa. finished third on the team in assists (7) and scored one goal, totaling nine points for the season. She played nearly every minute of the season, averaging 60.6Â per contest.
Three of Zielinski's assists came during a single game, tying a then-Bucknell record in a win over Holy Cross. Zielinski also supplied an assist last season, giving her 10 points over her career. She totaled 51 games played and 46 starts over her four years with the Orange & Blue.
Zielinski was recognized earlier in November for her academic success as well, as she was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
This is the second consecutive season the Bison have had a player land on the NFHCA Senior Team after 2021 graduate Kaelyn Long earned a spot last year. Zielinski was joined on the Senior Team by fellow Patriot League players Noor Coenen (American), Audrey Sawers (Lafayette) and Lenke Havas (Lehigh).
