The Black Knights (6-3) scored six unanswered touchdowns during the first half and never looked back, moving to 7-0 in their all-time series with the Bison (1-9, 0-5 PL).
For Army West Point, which became bowl eligible with its victory, eight different players ran for a touchdown. Bucknell scored all 10 of its points during the third quarter, with Jared Cooper rushing for a 19-yard touchdown and Ryan Schatzel booting a 25-yard field goal on back-to-back possessions.
During the first half, Army West Point built a 42-0 advantage. At the break, the Black Knight held leads in first downs (14-7) and total offense (244-120). They limited the Bison to just 13 rushing yards while racking up 186 of their own; all but their final touchdown of the first two frames, a 22-yard throw by Ay'Juan Marshall to Jabari Laws, came on the ground.
The teams endured a lengthy lightning delay, which began during the intermission and saw Michie Stadium pelted with rain and hail. The rain slowed but never stopped, resulting in slick playing conditions during a second half that saw Army West Point outscore Bucknell, 21-10, to bring the final score to 63-10.
For the Bison, Ethan Grady completed 16 passes for 136 yards. His favorite targets were tight ends Adam Barakat and Christian Spugnardi, each of whom set a new career-high figure in receiving yards with 44 and 30 respectively. Marques Owens paced Bucknell with 66 all-purpose yards, which came on a career-high 38 kickoff return yards and 28 receiving yards.
Alex Smith Jr. (8), Blake Leake (7) and Cooper Kim (7) were the game's top-three tacklers, with Smith Jr. and Kim each setting a new career-best total. Smith Jr. also forced a fumble during the kickoff following Cooper's touchdown, which was recovered by John Schlendorf to set up Schatzel's field goal.
For the Black Knights, Tyson Riley ran for a game-high 70 yards on 10 carries. Tyrell Robinson led all players with 124 all-purpose yards, which came on 85 punt return yards, 14 kickoff return yards and 25 rushing yards.
No Army West Point defensive player registered more than three tackles. Andre Carter and Cole Mabry accounted for the game's two sacks. Malkelm Morrison forced a fumble, which was recovered by Cameron Jones, while Andrew Carter returned an interception 17 yards to set up the Black Knights' first touchdown.
Army West Point finished with overall advantages in first downs (30-11), total offense (486-175) and time of possession (34:23-25:37). The Black Knights recorded 14 points off of turnovers and held the Bison to just 39 yards on the ground while racking up 428 of their own. Six of their nine scoring drives covered more than 50 yards.
Bucknell next closes its 2021 campaign by hosting defending Patriot League champion Holy Cross on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.
