Bucknell at a Glance
- With two games remaining in the regular-season, the Bison have work to do in order to ascend into a Patriot League Tournament position. Bucknell enters the penultimate matchday with a 2-3-2 league record and is tied for eighth place with Boston University. Lafayette currently occupies the sixth and final postseason spot with 10 points, and the Bison would also need to jump in front of seventh-place Lehigh on nine points.
- The Bison are coming off a 0-0 home draw with Boston University last Saturday. It was a stellar defensive performance, as Bucknell limited the Terriers to just one shot on goal in 110 minutes.
- Senior center back Colin Eifert was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts in that clean sheet against Boston University. It was a strong bounce-back performance for the Bison, who had conceded four goals in each of their previous two games against Holy Cross and Syracuse.
- Sunday's game at Navy will be Bucknell's final road contest of the regular season. The Bison have gotten used to the travel this season, as 10 of the team's 15 games have come away from home. Bucknell is 3-5-2 on the road, including Patriot League wins over Lehigh and Colgate. Â Â
- Sophomore striker Jordan Miller is tied for third in the Patriot League with six goals, one behind Holy Cross' Evan Jones and Loyola's Kelan Swales. Miller's account includes an overtime game-winner at Lehigh on Sept. 29.
- Six other Bison have one goal apiece: Patrick O'Hara, Eddie Perez-Pelaez, Gabe Dahlin, Alex Clarke, Sebastian Paz and Jameson Railey.
- O'Hara has a team-high three assists and is second to Miller with five points.
- Clarke's penalty kick in a 1-0 win at Colgate came on Bucknell's first attempt from the spot this season. Clarke earned Patriot League Midfielder of the after converting a pressure PK in the 79th minute.
- Bucknell has three captains for the 2021 season: seniors Alex Clarke and Patrick O'Hara, and sophomore MJ Kuczura. Kuczura is the first sophomore captain in team history.Â
- The Midshipmen have been one of the Patriot League's top teams all season and come into Saturday's game with a 10-4-1 overall record and a 4-3-0 Patriot League mark.
- Three of Navy's four losses have come in the last four games, however, including overtime setbacks against Lehigh and Saint Joseph's earlier this week.
- Navy enters the weekend tied with Army for fourth place with 12 points, but the Midshipmen are only three points off the lead. Holy Cross and Loyola share the top spot with 15 points each, followed by American with 13.
- Navy has scored the most goals (28) and allowed the fewest (13) in the Patriot League this season. The Midshipmen have outshot their opponents 96-57.
- Sidney Paris (4-6-14), David Jackson (4-5-13), Jacob Williams (5-3-13) and Baba Kallie (5-0-10) have handled the bulk of the scoring load for Navy. Williams recorded a hat trick against arch-rival Army on Oct. 9, and all five of his goals have come in Patriot League play.
- Tyler Fahning has played every minute in goal this fall, and he leads the Patriot League with eight shutouts and a 0.83 goals-against average.
- Bucknell and Navy first clashed all the way back in 1930, and the Midshipmen have a 28-15-4 edge in 47 all-time meetings.
- Navy started out the series with 15 straight wins and a 19-0-1 mark in the first 20 meetings before the Bison finally won for the first time in 1997.
- The Midshipmen have won three of the last four, but Bucknell's win in that span was a 2-0 verdict in Annapolis in the 2019 Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals. Matt Thorsheim scored both goals for the Bison in that one.
- The two teams met last March during the abbreviated spring season, and Navy won 1-0 in Annapolis on David Jackson's penalty kick in the 33rd minute.
- Sunday's game will be the fourth straight and sixth in the last seven meetings played in Annapolis.
- Bucknell wraps up the regular season at home next Wednesday against Loyola. Game time is 7 p.m. at Emmitt Field, with coverage on ESPN+.
