Bucknell Men’s Soccer Plays Boston University to Scoreless Draw

LEWISBURG, Pa. – It was a day for the defenses at rain-soaked Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium, as Bucknell and Boston University finished in a scoreless tie after 110 minutes. The two teams came into the game even in the Patriot League men's soccer table, and they remain in a tie for seventh place on eight points with matching 2-3-2 records.
Boston University outshot the Bison 16-12, but the Terriers were limited to only one shot on goal all day. Bucknell's back four of MJ Kuczura, Gabe Dahlin, Colin Eifert and Collin Murphy were rock solid all day, particularly in overtime when the Bison had to send on first-year goalkeeper Logan Kinajil-Moran for his collegiate debut.
In the 94th minute, starting keeper Bennett Schwartz came well out of his box to play a ball, but it skipped by him on the wet surface. The ensuing collision with Brian Hernandez resulted in a second yellow card and a sending off for Schwartz.
Kinajil-Moran, a freshman from New Zealand, successfully handled a couple of services in traffic just after coming on, and he kept the clean sheet intact in his 16 minutes of action.
Even though they were outshot in the match, the Bison had the more dangerous chances. Jordan Miller did well to find space near the left post late in the first half, and his shot from a sharp angle got through to the goal line before being swept away by Gianluca Arlotti.
With 20 seconds to go in the half, Dahlin sent a header off the left post after a service from Eifert.
The Bison had two wonderful volleys in the second half, but both went right at goalkeeper Francesco Montali. The first came from Patrick O'Hara in the 49th minute off a nice service from Kuczura. Brennan Gac hammered a hip-high volley into Montali's mitts in the 76th minute.
Montali logged five saves for the Terriers, who led 9-6 in corner kicks. This was the ninth overtime game in 10 all-time meetings between the two teams.
Bucknell celebrated Senior Day prior to the game. Eifert, O'Hara, Alex Clarke, Jacob Mittman and Aiden Perry were all recognized with their families.
The Bison have two games remaining in the regular season, starting with a trip to Navy next Saturday.
