WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point scored two goals in the final 20 minutes of the match to rally past the Bucknell women's soccer team, 2-1, on Friday night at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.
The Black Knights (6-7-3, 3-3-2 PL) netted the go-ahead goal in the 88th minute to stun the Bison (7-7-3, 4-2-2 PL) and snap their four-game unbeaten streak.
Bucknell opened the scoring in the 31st minute, with Paige Temple finishing off a Teresa Deda feed from the top of the box. It was Deda's 11th assist of the season, which represents the highest total the Patriot League.
Rylee Donaldson, the Patriot League leader in goals, nearly extended the Bison's advantage in the 40th minute. After Sage Strohman stopped her initial shot, a rising bid, she collected the rebound and sent a lower shot on net. Strohman, who ultimately finished the contest with five saves, managed to scoop up that try as well, preserving her team's one-goal deficit.
Army West Point netted the equalizer in the 72nd minute after a corner kick bounced out to Lindsey Smith, who then fired a long rocket into the back of the net. The Black Knights' game-winning goal was scored off the head of Kaelan Bradley, who dove to direct Lauren Drysdale's pass into the goal.
Bucknell held advantages in shots (15-8), shots on goal (6-3) and corner kicks (5-2).
The Bison next wrap up the regular season at Lehigh on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.
